Hi, I'm Sukaina. I'm a freelance food writer and photographer and this is my blank space on the web to unleash my creativity. This blog is a compilation of generations of recipes, tales of my family, my childhood as well as labours of my photography. It is filled with beautiful memories, beautiful meals and beautiful images. You will also see tidbits of my two beautiful children, Maryam and Hassan, and my husband, Akber.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What camera equipment do you use?
Currently, I use a Canon 550D with various lenses including the Canon 24-70mm 2.8, 60mm 2.8 Macro and the 50mm 1.4. I also own a small tripod (not used as frequently as I should) as well as a 5 in 1 reflector. I don't use any artificial lighting, only natural daylight. I edit my photos mainly with Lightroom 4 as of April 2012 and occasionally still use PS Elements 9 for overlays and text.
Did you take any courses to learn photography?
I took a beginner's course at Gulf Photo Plus to acquaint myself with a DSLR after which I read many online tutorials and YouTube videos. After that, it was all practice, practice, practice.
Where do you buy your props?
I buy my props from a variety of places and sources that include Etsy, Anthropologie, Zara Home, Toast, Brook Farm General and Ebay. If there's something specific you want to ask about, please feel free to email me.
I would love to hear from you. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please drop me an email on sipsandspoonfuls@gmail.com.
