When Bee agreed to let me guest post here, I felt like I had won the Oscar's of the blogging world. I used to follow Bee even before I started a blog myself, stumbling here when I was looking for Kung Pao chicken recipe. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be sharing her space.
Bee requested a recipe for naan and I was super excited to share this easy recipe which yields great results every time. Naan really needs no introduction. If you've delved in indian cuisine before, you WILL have eaten naan. After all, it's the quintessential Indian food.
But the greatest misconception about naan is that most people think it's difficult to duplicate the same soft, pillowy results at home without a tandoor- a traditional clay oven where temperatures reach nearly 500 degrees Centigrade, allowing the naan bread to be cooked within a matter of minutes.
The trick to getting a soft and fluffy naan is to make sure you use a heavy bottomed skillet which is very hot. Make sure you cover the nan with a lid to get those sought after bubbles on the surface. And no meal involving naan is complete without a traditional Indian curry to go with it. Stay tuned for an authentic butter chicken recipe very soon that goes perfectly with these buttery naans.
You can find the recipe at Rasa Malaysia.

Your photographs are mind blowing!! I use yeast to make my naan and some baking soda and do it on the stove top too! LOVE those beautiful blue plates and the pillowey goodness on them.
Wow- those photos are getting better and better.

Wonderful clicks, naan has come out perfect! Thanks for the link love!
I have a pizza stone in my oven, would it works well cooking the naan on the stone in the oven? Turn it up to 500 degrees?
Your naans look perfect Sukaina.Besides a hot skillet that you talked about ,I think that it is utmost necessary that the shortening in the dough should be enough..atleast I dun try to cut on that when I make them else they becomes rubbery.Lovely post and great pictures
Thank you so much for this recipe! I've had a lot of naans in Nepal and been looking for the recipe ever since.
Thanks for the encouraging comments! Yes, you can absolutely use a pizza stone- make sure it's veryyyyy hot and then use the highest setting on your grill. Tanvi, thanks for the tip.
You photos and your naan are absolutely beautiful! I have always wanted to make naan, but just haven't got around to it. I am heading straight to Bee's site for the recipe.
Gorgeous. I love how "alive" everything in the photos look! I adore naan and will be back for the recipe when I have the change to make it.
So didn't think I would ever be able to make my own naan bread because I don't have that ceramic baker. Thanks so much.
